1985: Joe Traeger built the first prototype in Mt. Angel, Oregon, after getting inspired by wood-heating pellets.

1987: The Traeger brand officially launched and patented the automated auger system for steady heat.

2017: The company added Wi-Fi connectivity (WiFIRE) to let users control cooks from phones.
